Cambodia

Thursday,

We woke up early to be at the border to go into Cambodia early morning. It took few hours to go through. Get the Cambodian visa, checking us and the bikes out of Thailand and then get our Cambodian visas stamped. When everything was finished and we were in Cambodia a random guy pointed us to go to a custom office building across the road. To get the bikes registered into the country. We went there and the officers simply said we could not go into the country without a carnet.... no way to talk them in!!!! Simply just told us to go back into Thailand and we could try enter from Laos since they are not as restricted there. Did we drive towards the border again (100 m) and discussed what in the hell we could do now. We decided to try drive into the country past their office. We drove slowly past the office and after few km we stopped to see if someone was following us. And after two other stops we started celebrating. We did head to Seam Reap this day were the Angkor Wat is. On our way we came across and English fellow on the road side on a XR250. He joined us to Seam Reap.

Friday,

We went to see the Angkor Wat and some of the other temples in that area. Found a tuk-tuk drive we paid a few dollars to drive us there and back and between all the temples. This is most likely the most impressive structures we have both seen. What amazing share size of the buildings along with the fine details everywhere. This mostly built between 900-1200 and the rocks were transferred by elephants from mountain some hundreds of km away. This was as well the hottest day we have experienced, in the 39 deg we where melting.

We went to the hotel, after seeing all the main temples in a record time to jump into the not so cold swimming pool. After we went to see Nick gets eaten by some Dubai fishes. He turned 40 that day but no energy was left after dinner for the happy hour drinks so we ended in bed very early on his birthday.

Text was written by Ingó, but based on Viggós diary.

  6. Hæ, var ekki búin að finna myndirnar. Þarna eruð þið duglegir þ.e. að taka myndir. Rosalega gaman að skoða þetta. Það er myndasýning í Kópavoginum á sunnudögum.
